Applying for a scholarship and admission

In addition to these pages, instructions for applying for scholarships are published annually in the spring and summer in the Ultra magazine, and often also in the early autumn in the Spirit and Knowledge Expo magazine. You can apply for the scholarship by sending an open-ended, informal application.

APPLICATION PERIODS AND DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOLARSHIPS

• The application period started in April 2022
• Applications must be sent by 11. September 2022 via e-mail or post to the address below
• Decisions will be notified to scholarship recipients no later than a few days before the event where the scholarships are granted, primarily by email or telephone. Rejections are not justified to applicants.
• The next scholarships will be handed out on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the 50th Spirit and Knowledge Expo (expo itself is going to be postponed to the next year)
  
• In 2021, the amount will be paid into the beneficiary’s account at a later date to be announced

AMOUNTS TO BE GRANTED

In previous years, Rajatiedon Yhteistyö ry has distributed a total of approximately EUR 50,000 in scholarships for fringe knowledge research and development. In recent years, the annual amount of scholarships has been approximately 2,200 euros. The amounts awarded have traditionally been divided between scholarships awarded for fringe knowledge research and development activities. As a general rule, the maximum amount awarded to one applicant is EUR 1000.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE APPLICANT

• Scholarships are awarded for research and development activities on topics related to fringe knowleldge.
• Scholarships can be applied for by both individuals and organizations.
• The application must be accompanied by a statement of the applicant’s previous activities (studies, publications, articles, etc.) as well as a project / research plan and a statement of the current stage of the work.
• The application must state the name of the applicant or applicants, contact information, possible organization within which the work is to be performed and the estimated schedule of the work.
• When using the scholarship to hire labor, the recipient is obliged to take care of required taxes and employer fees
• The recipient of the scholarship must provide a report on the use of the scholarship by the next year’s Helsinki Spirit and Knowledge Expo, or in other agreed context.
• An article about the work of the scholarship recipient can be published in the Infinite magazine published by the Association
• The name of the beneficiary can be mentioned in the list of granted scholarships (see Privacy Statement in Finnish). NOTE: To ensure the accuracy of the information, please also provide us with a link to a website related to a possible project when submitting your application.
• Scholarships would not be awarded to a group or individual which is operated or closely related Association board members as described in the Foundation Act.
• It would follow proper practices if Rajatiedon Yhteistyö ry were mentioned in scholarship-funded publications in accordance with the grant policies.
